About
Recycled Logo Mosaic is a feel-good activity that combines giving back with recycling. Before the event, a national charity or local community cause is chosen, and participants are asked to bring along clothing and other recyclable items.
On the day, teams take on a lively networking and communication challenge: recreate a giant version of your company logo inside pre-marked areas, using only the donated items.
Colors, textures and shapes all become part of the design, and teams have to keep checking with each other so every section lines up and the logo is recognizable from above.
The finished logo makes a perfect group photo. Afterward, all the items are delivered to your chosen charity, so nothing goes to waste and the good continues.
Learning outcomes
Success depends on every participant understanding how their part affects the overall picture. Teams have to talk constantly, because one misplaced color can change the whole picture.
From an organizational point of view, the activity breaks down silo thinking and strengthens cooperative values, because every team's section has to fit the whole design. Each team quickly sees how its decisions affect the sections next door.
It also carries a powerful business message: small changes in personal habits can add up to a huge combined impact.
During the session, people are reminded of the clothing industry's effect on the environment, including how much water goes into a single cotton shirt and how much of our clothing can be recycled. Everyone leaves with a fresh perspective, a great photo and the satisfaction of helping others.
