Wildlife Haven Builders
Earn the materials, build homes for wildlife and give them to the community.

About
Wildlife Haven Builders is a hands-on, eco-friendly team activity. Teams build sustainable bird boxes, insect hotels and bat boxes that will give local wildlife a safe place to live.
Before they can build, teams have to earn their materials by completing eco challenges on tablets. The challenges are creative, mental and physical, with different levels of difficulty, and teams send their best people to the bird, bat and insect challenges they can win.
Strong leadership, strategy and communication make all the difference, as teams can gain an advantage by juggling several challenges at once.
With materials secured, teams divide the roles and build three wildlife habitats from 3D plans, then decorate the timber structures to set criteria. All the finished boxes can be donated to a local community, school or institution.
Learning outcomes
Wildlife Haven Builders is fun, practical and inclusive, with a positive local impact. Every team's success comes down to clear roles and smart choices about which challenges to take on.
Participants learn about local ecology and how human activity affects birds, bats and insects, and they discover simple actions that help those populations thrive.
The relaxed format is a great icebreaker. Teams weigh risk against reward, and with the clock ticking, people need to speak up about which challenges they can confidently complete. Trust builds as each challenge is won. Quieter team members often shine in the challenges that suit them best.
Individuals come to appreciate each other's abilities, and seeing the finished habitats go to a good home gives the day a lasting purpose that everyone can feel proud of.
