Why Sa Pa
Sa Pa takes a team far from the office, physically and mentally. Treks through valleys, meals with local families and evenings in the cool mountain air create a strong sense of shared experience. It suits leadership retreats and incentive groups who want something more adventurous than a beach.
Getting there
Most groups travel by coach on the expressway, about five to six hours with a rest stop. Overnight trains to Lao Cai, followed by a short transfer up the mountain, are another option for smaller groups. Plan the travel days as part of the experience, with good coaches and snacks.
Seasons
- September: golden rice terraces before harvest
- October to November: clear, cool and dry
- December to February: cold, sometimes misty, with occasional frost
- March to May: mild and green, good for trekking
- June to August: warmer with more rain and lush landscapes
Team activities
- Guided treks with local guides, with easier and harder routes
- Team challenges using the landscape and villages
- Cooking with local families
- Strategy and reflection sessions in a quiet setting
- A closing dinner or award night
Venues
Sa Pa has hotels and resorts ranging from mountain lodges to larger properties with meeting rooms. Smaller groups have the widest choice; larger groups need early booking and sometimes split across hotels.
