Hanoi Weather Month by Month: Best Time for Corporate Events
Hanoi has four seasons, unlike the south of Vietnam. That gives planners more variety, but it also means the same outdoor activity can be perfect in November and exhausting in July. Here is what to expect month by month, and how to plan around it.
Autumn: September to November
Many locals consider autumn the best season in Hanoi. Days are warm, humidity falls, and the light is soft. October and November are excellent for outdoor team building, cyclo rides, jeep tours and evening events by the lake.
September can still bring some rain and the tail end of the storm season, so keep a backup plan for outdoor activities.
Winter: December to February
Winter is cool to cold, often grey, with light drizzle. Temperatures can drop to around 10 degrees Celsius on the coldest days, and most buildings have little heating. This is also peak season for year-end parties and the run-up to Tet.
Plan indoor or covered venues for evening events, warn international guests to bring a jacket, and remember that the week around Tet is a national holiday when many suppliers close.
Spring: March to April
Spring warms up gradually, with frequent fine drizzle and high humidity in March. By April it is pleasant again, making it a good time for outdoor programs, retreats in Ninh Binh and trips to Ha Long Bay.
Summer: May to August
Summer is hot and humid, with temperatures often in the mid-thirties Celsius and sudden afternoon thunderstorms. Outdoor activities are best early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Indoor team building, evening experiences and beach or mountain escapes are popular.
We plan shade, water and shorter outdoor segments, and always keep an indoor alternative ready.
