Cyclo in a Hanoi street

Cyclo Tours in Hanoi for Groups: What Planners Need to Know

A cyclo ride around the Old Quarter is one of the simplest ways to give a corporate group a real feel for Hanoi. Guests sit in front of a pedal rickshaw, the driver pedals behind, and the city moves past at walking pace. It is easy to enjoy, requires no fitness, and creates some of the best photos of any trip.

If you are planning one for a group, here is what you need to know.

When to schedule it

Late afternoon and early evening are the best times. The heat eases, the lights come on around Hoan Kiem Lake and the streets are lively. A cyclo ride fits neatly between the last session of a conference and dinner, or as a welcome activity on arrival day.

How long it takes

Most group rides last about one to one and a half hours, including a short photo stop. Add time for gathering, briefing and seating the group, especially if you have more than fifty guests.

Group size and waves

Each cyclo carries one or two guests. For larger groups, the convoy runs in waves a few minutes apart, each with a guide. This keeps the streets manageable and ensures everyone arrives at the next venue together.

Typical route

  • Hoan Kiem Lake and the red Huc Bridge
  • The Old Quarter streets once named after their trades
  • St. Joseph’s Cathedral
  • The French Quarter and the Opera House

Safety and comfort

Drivers ride these streets every day, and the convoy keeps to quieter routes when possible. Our team rides with the group. We provide water, and ponchos if it rains; cyclos also have covers.

Combine it

A cyclo ride pairs perfectly with a private water puppet show, a street food trail or a seated gala dinner. We plan the drop-off so guests step straight from the cyclo into the next part of the evening.

Frequently asked questions

Is a cyclo tour suitable for older guests?

Yes. Guests stay seated throughout, and we help everyone in and out of the cyclo.

Can the tour start from our hotel?

Often yes, if the hotel is in or near the Old Quarter. Otherwise we arrange a short coach transfer to the start point.

Do we need to book far ahead?

For groups over fifty, or in the busy season from November to January, book at least four to six weeks ahead.
